Baby’s First Dentist Appointment Age 18-24 months

Your child’s first dentist appointment should be 6-2 months after the first teeth erupt, or approximately 18-24 months in age.

The first dental appointment for a toddler is a brief exam to ensure normal oral development.

It also helps little ones begin to feel comfortable with the sights, sounds and smells of the dental office. Feel free to bring your little ones in to their older sibling’s appointments to let them discover the world of the dental office.

Children’s First Dentist Appointment Age 2-9 years

For children up to age 9 who are visiting for the first time, they will have our caring dental hygienists and dentist perform a complete dental exam including x-rays, and we will let mom or dad know if there are any tooth problems.

They will also receive a dental cleaning during the same visit.

Children’s First Dentist Appointment Age 10 years +

For children aged 10 and over, the complete exam and dental cleaning are performed in separate visits to allow thorough documentation of all dentition, and a thorough dental cleaning.

Your First Dental Visit:

Our warm and welcoming team of dental hygienists and family dentists will perform a complete dental exam including x-rays, oral photos, gum charting, oral cancer screening and medical history.

The initial exam is completed in one hour. Dental cleaning will be prescribed based on gum health. Healthy gums only require a dental cleaning every 6 months.

Gum disease requires some initial therapy, followed by dental cleaning every 3 or 4 months.

We are here to help you preserve your natural teeth for life and are always happy to answer any questions you may have about your dental health.

We look forward to meeting you! Schedule your appointments today!
